FORSYTE runs on HackRF-class hardware and on RTL-SDR today, which are about as far apart as two receivers get. We built automatic signal recognition and classification, and made it work on a thirty dollar receiver.
We do not port the same feature set onto every radio and hope. We shape the software around what the hardware can actually do. A receiver with four RX tuners and 50 MHz of span on each can run several functions at once, so that is what we build for it. An RTL-SDR does less, so it does less, honestly, rather than pretending. Same software, fitted to the radio.
